We don't just teach your dog obedience, we teach them how to be a part of the family too.
Our Training Approach
At Curious K9, we believe that every dog is unique and requires varying areas of focus to reach their full potential. In the beginning of training, we start by teaching your dog what behaviors we want by using positive reinforcement. As your dog starts to understand what is being asked of them, we will add in corrections when they choose not to listen. Rewards can be a toy, food and/or affection. Corrections can vary from removing a toy to a pop on the leash.
This approach allows us to create lasting and reliable behaviors in your dog. We are committed to helping owners learn how to communicate effectively with their dogs. We implement rules and boundaries to create well rounded dogs, giving them the structure they crave and the guidance they require. Our goal is to create a happy and healthy relationship between dogs and their owners.
About Your Trainer
Hi there, I'm Samantha!
I am the sole owner and trainer of Curious K9. I've been married to my husband, Jacob since 2022 and we have two dogs, Meeko and Lucy. My love for dogs began when I was young; At 8 years old, I started volunteering with a dog rescue doing adoption events in Florida. I continued that until I moved to California at 18. I worked at a dog-friendly coffee shop in Downtown Huntington Beach, where I also started a dog walking business. I adopted Lucy in 2015, and loved walking all the dogs by the beach! My love for training really began in 2016 when I brought home Meeko. I was determined to create a happy, enjoyable, obedient dog. Over the years, he's taught me so much! Attending training classes and workshops really motivated me to start my professional training journey. I gained hands on experience working at a couple different training facilities, and then in September of 2022, Curious K9 became a reality! Now I get to live my dream every day! My favorite part of dog training is watching the dogs have "light bulb" moments where you can see things click for them. I also love being able to take them on adventures around town!
About Us
Curious K9 is home based, where your dog is one of ours during their stay. They have a backyard and are crated indoors. Your dog learns how to coexist with other dogs and people. Your dog will have a structured routine, where we enforce boundaries throughout daily life while teaching obedience and manners. Your dog will receive daily exercise and fun while training with us. We love what we do, we love the dogs we train and we know we can help you with your training needs.
**We do NOT handle severe aggression or severe resource guarding cases.
